● LAMB SHANKS
Well, you require Lamb Shanks to get started with the Sous Vide Lamb Shank recipe. Lamb Shank is an inexpensive piece from the Lamb’s leg and tastes the best in the slow cooking method through Sous Vide. So, we recommend cooking two pieces of Lamb Shanks together, so that the final meal is enough for two or more people. Sous Vide will also save you from the worry of undercooking or overcooking your Lamb Shanks.
You will require some common spices to flavour your Lamb Shanks, which include salt, pepper, cinnamon, allspice and cloves. You can add these spices inside the vacuum-sealing bag and again before searing the Sous Vide Lamb Shanks into the skillet pan, for developing an extra spicy taste.

- A Suvi Sous Vide machine is needed to heat the water bath. The unique heating system will cook your Lamb Shanks thoroughly with the retention of taste and tenderness.
- Lamb Shanks will be packed inside a vacuum-sealing bag with all the necessary ingredients. This vacuum-sealing bag will then be inserted into the water bath.
- A Sous Vide container or big pot is required to keep the water bath, Suvi Sous Vide machine and the vacuum sealing bag within it for slow-cooking of Lamb Shanks.
- An iron-skillet pan will sear and colour the Sous Vide Lamb Shanks before serving them.
RECIPE OF SOUS VIDE LAMB SHANK
Sous Vide Lamb Shank can be made at home in a few easy steps using the Suvi Sous Vide machine. The complete recipe is stated in a stepwise guide to help you cook the Lamb Shank of your choice. Let’s get started!
1. SPICE UP THE LAMB SHANKS
Take each of your Lamb Shanks and rub salt all over its surface. The amount of salt depends on your preference. It is suggested that salt should be vigorously rubbed on every part of the Lamb Shank to dissipate the taste inside the meat.
Now, you can add all the spices stated above to Lamb Shanks, including cloves, pepper and any other seasoning which you may like. Afterwards, insert your Lamb Shanks into the vacuum-sealing bag and add pickled lemons as well as garlic to the bag. This combination will further enhance the flavour of the Lamb Shanks.
2. SOUS VIDE THE LAMB SHANKS
For slow cooking of Lamb Shanks, insert the Suvi Sous Vide machine in the water bath inside the Sous Vide container or pot. Preheat the water bath to 145 F / 62.7 C by setting the required temperature on the Suvi Sous Vide machine. Then insert the vacuum-sealed bag containing the spiced Lamb Shanks into the water bath.
The cooking time of the Sous Vide Lamb Shanks is approximately 48 hours. You should continuously monitor the water level in the container. During cooking, air bubbles should be quickly removed from the vacuum-sealed bag, if any develop.
3. STIR-FRY THE SOUS VIDE LAMB SHANKS
After 48 hours of cooking, remove the vacuum-sealed bag from the water bath. Afterwards, open the bag and take out the tender Lamb Shanks and other contents from the bag. Carefully pour out the juice from the bag into a saucepan.
Now, cook the Lamb Shank juice in the saucepan for a few minutes until it is skimmed. The Sous Vide Lamb Shanks are stir-fried in an iron skillet pan. You can use any oil of your own choice, such as avocado oil or coconut oil on medium heat. Sear the lamb shanks on each side for a few minutes or until they turn brown.
4. COOK ANY SIDES OF YOUR CHOICE
As your Sous Vide Lamb Shanks have been made, you can now cook any sides of your choice. There is a wide variety of options to choose from. For example, you can make mashed potatoes, couscous or boiled veggies with Sous Vide Lamb Shanks or any other sauce. You may also add pomegranate molasses to the dish for a middle eastern touch.
